During Bryce's stay in the hospital in February of
2008, he had visitors who had brought in balloons
and toys. This was a very difficult time for all of us,
Bryce had never even stayed a night without his twin
brother Blake. The most they had ever been apart
was a few hours and only a handful of times. I know
he was scared and he was without his brother and
his toys. The only comfort item he had with him was
his blankie. These toys and balloons were a great
comfort and distraction for him. He was tired and
slept a lot but always waking to want one of his new
toys or balloons that either family or visitors had
brought.

Since Bryce's diagnosis, my husband and I have
talked many times about wanting to do something to
help also. We came up with the idea of stuffed
animals to help comfort during procedures and to
sleep with.  We decided the celebration of Bryce's 3rd
birthday would be the launching of our project. All
throughout July we are giving out Buddy Bears. We
delivered 50 small bears to the clinic's toybox.
Children there have to have their fingers "poked" (as
Bryce calls it) for bloodwork and then they get a toy.
This happens for most every visit. We are starting
small but we hope to continue this and expand to
and be able to do this EVERY month.

So we need your help to keep this up!! Every dollar
truly counts, with every dollar a child can have a
Buddy Bear!!
