About Me
I was born on July 6, 2005 only one short minute after my
twin brother Blake. Our due date was August 5th, so we
were about a month early. I weighed in at 7lbs 6oz and Blake
was 6lbs and 13oz. We were both healthy and did not spend
anytime in the NICU.

That's me on the right!!

Other than RSV when I was 6 months old, I have been a
happy healthy boy up until February of 2008. I was rolling
over at 4.5 months old, crawling, sitting up on my own, and
pulling myself up on things at 7 months. My brother and I
both started walking the day after our first birthday.

I have two brothers and one sister. I have my twin brother
Blake, my older brother Brandon who is 15, and my big sis
Ashley who is 17. Needless to say I am spoiled rotten!

I love music, cartoons, wrestling, basketball, football,
baseball, my blankie, sucking my thumb, and of course my
family!

Leukemia HAS not and WILL not get me down. I am a fighter
and I am going to

WIN THIS FIGHT!!

Bryce was diagnosed Friday February
22nd with
Standard Risk B-Precursor
Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia.

On January 24th 2008 he had a very bad nosebleed that
took about 30-40 minutes to stop. I was worried and took
him to urgent care. They said it was a sinus infection
everything was fine and sent him home. He continued
to have bleeding in the nose but very little and it was
occasionally.

On February 15th he wasn't feeling well and started running
a fever and complaining with a belly ache and he was again
taken to urgent care on the 16th. There he was diagnosed
with a throat infection and sent home with amoxicillin.
Around this time we also noticed excessive bruising. He had
many bruises on his back and bottom and had no idea why.

He seemed to be getting better and then on the 21st he
began laying around.I called and made him an appt on the
22nd and they couldn't see him until 2. They then called and
had a cancellation and I took him there around 12:15 and
she checked him for the flu and it came back negative. She
didn't like the way he looked he was pale and complaining
with his belly and she had him directly admitted to Hardin
Memorial. There they ran bloodwork, flu/rsv test, urine
samples and was giving him fluids. Suddenly the nurses
came running into the room nearly knocking me over to shut
off his fluids and said the doctor is on his way to talk to you.
We knew something was up but still had no idea what was
going on. We then found out by the doctor he had made
arrangements for him to be sent to Kosairs and that most
likely our son has leukemia.

Things moved pretty quickly from there and he was
transported by ambulance to Kosair's ICU unit. He loved the
ambulance ride, it was the Just For Kids ambulance and it
was really nice. They let him pick a movie he watched
Finding Nemo and they gave him a stuffed animal that was  .
They were really nice and blew the horn for him and it
sounded like a train and he would get all excited and say do
it again do it again!! When we arrived at Kosair's his
hemoglobin had dropped even more and was now at 3.0.
They had ran it twice at Hardin and the first I think was 4.7,
second was 4.3.

His counts on 2/22/08 at 9:24 PM were:

White Blood Count 21.6
Red Blood Count 1.09
Hemoglobin 3.0
Platelets 11
Neutrophils 1
He was given blood and platelets immediately over a 24
hour period.

I am going to try and get the rest of his story copied over
from caringbridge.
